Our U12C team faced a tough challenge this morning, falling 4-0 to league winners Enniskerry in their Shield match. Despite missing several players due to illness and injuries, the Rovers put in a valiant effort, making it a close contest in the first half.
The team defended resolutely, limiting Enniskerry's chances and almost taking the lead themselves through a Brook Montgomery free-kick that narrowly missed the target. However, just before halftime, Enniskerry broke the deadlock with a superb long-range strike.
The second half continued in a similar vein, with both defenses holding firm. Eventually, Enniskerry's individual talent shone through as they added three more goals to secure the victory.
Despite the scoreline, the U12Cs showed tremendous spirit and never stopped trying, earning praise from the referee who told them after the game, "They have big hearts & never gave up."
Thank you to Enniskerry for a competitive and sporting match, and we wish them the best of luck in the competition.
