Wicklow Rovers triumphed 3-1 at home against Glencormac United in an exciting U15s Group 2 clash this morning, showcasing their resilience and fighting spirit.
Despite missing several key players and calling on reinforcements from the U13 and U14 squads, the Rovers refused to be deterred. After conceding an early goal, the team dug deep and battled back, leveling the score just before halftime. Mathias expertly finished a chance created by Tiernan Shorthall's tireless work, sending the teams into the break on equal terms.
The second half saw a revitalized Rovers side take control of the match. Adrian Villafrance, playing through illness, put in a heroic performance and netted our second goal. The momentum continued, and U13 player AJ Long capped off a fine display with a clinical finish to make it 3-1.
Special mentions go to Ronan Wynne and Adrian for their bravery in playing through illness, Sam Czwalina for his inspiring leadership as captain, and Tiernan Shorthall for his relentless drive.
We'd also like to acknowledge the valuable contributions of our U13 and U14 players who stepped up today: AJ Long, Jack Collins, Daniel Clarke, James Carroll, Josh Murphy, and Sen Phelan.
This was a fantastic team effort, showcasing the depth and character of our squad. Onwards and upwards, Rovers!
A massive thank you to all the fans who came out to support the team today! Your cheers and encouragement made a real difference. We also extend our thanks to Glencormac United for the match and wish them the best for the rest of the season.
