The 2 previous league games were also very tight affairs with Arklow winning both of them. Rovers couldn't have gotten off to a worse start to finding themselves to be 1 nil down after the 1st minute through a very debatable offside goal.
But typical to this team, the response was brilliant and we pushed and pushed at Arklow with Charlie Gill Brook Montgomery and Aaron Cunha, both forcing the Arklow keeper into good saves before Billy Nolan struck a well deserved equaliser half way through the 1st half.
The remainder of the half remained the same with both teams playing some great football and going in at half time at 1 - 1. Second half was pretty much the same as the 1st with some excellent football on display and Tomas Cunha proving to be a constant menace for the Arklow defence up and down the left wing.
Rovers were on the up and were very unlucky to strike the cross bar and post in quick succession before scoring a well deserved 2nd from a Billy Nolan effort after some very good build up play throughout the team. The last 10 mins everyone dug in deep and defended absolutely brilliant and Mithul Saravana in goals and the backline in front of him were making sure nothing went past them.
This was a brilliant 3pts for the team and an excellent team performance to finish off a very good league season having to mix it with some B teams. Thanks again to Arklow United for another tight contest.
