Our U13B travelled to St Anthonys today for a top of the table six pointer. In a close first half Eoghan Quinn had the best chance when the ball fell kindly to him six yards out but the Anthonys keeper did well and smothered the shot. 0-0 at half time.
The 2nd half was more of the same in a very tight encounter with very little chances for both sides. Then, a straight ball down the middle of Rovers defence, bounced twice before falling to a St Anthonys foot to put them 1-0 up with 10 to play.
Rovers had their chances to get back on level terms, with the best falling to Casey Brennan in the last minutes, but his shot was high and over the bar.
The game finished 1-0 to St. Anthonys, who now join Rovers in top stop but with a game in hand. This was Rovers' final league game, so the league is now out of their hands, but not lost as yet.
Thank you to St Anthonys for a great game and to all the parents and family who travelled to support the lads on the sideline.
