Wicklow Rovers U13C resumed their season away to Arklow United this morning. These 2 teams have been very evenly matched over the last few years and today's game was no different.
Rovers played with a strong wind in the first half and had the majority of the play. Some excellent passing throughout the team was on display. Rovers had several good chances early on but couldn't find the net. On 15 minutes they made the pressure count. Man of the Match Aaron Lynn slid a brilliant ball into space to Paddy Donnelly who brought the ball into the box and powered a shot low past the Arklow keeper. Arklow played their way into the game after this but Rovers weathered the storm and then took control again. For the remainder of the half, Rovers went in search of another goal but were kept out by the Arklow defence.
Arklow, now with the wind advantage, went for it straight from the restart and got an equaliser within 2 minutes with a well taken goal. Arklow spent the majority of the second half in the Rovers half, with goalkeeper Loukas Karamalis and the Rovers back 4 keeping Arklow out. The game ended 1-1 and was a fair result. In a strong team effort, there were notable performances from Aaron Lynn, Kai Jameson, Luke Mulhall and Paddy Donnelly. Thanks to Arklow United for a very entertaining game.
