U13B Maintain Top Spot
In an exciting encounter this morning at Whitegate, Wicklow Rovers U13B continued their winning streak with a well-deserved 3-1 victory over Roundwood, keeping them at the top of the league table.
The game began with Wicklow Rovers showing their intent early on. In the 7th minute, Lukas Araminus broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal, putting Rovers 1-0 up. The first half remained closely contested, with both teams having their moments, but Wicklow held their lead going into halftime.
The second half saw Roundwood pushing hard to get back into the game, creating several chances, but Rovers' defence stood strong. In the 47th minute, Alex Philippon eased the pressure on his team, calmly finishing with his weaker right foot after a well-placed cross into the box, extending Rovers' lead to 2-0.
Roundwood quickly responded just two minutes later, scoring a goal to make it 2-1, and putting the pressure back on the home side. However, Wicklow Rovers remained resolute. Their hard work paid off when Jamie McGowan played a perfectly timed pass that beat Roundwood's high defensive line, allowing Eoghan Quinn to break through. With the goalkeeper advancing, Quinn unleashed a powerful shot from 20 yards, sealing the game with a 3-1 victory for Rovers.
It was a strong team performance, with standout contributions across the pitch. Right-back Kyrylo Kliuchnyk earned the Man of the Match honors for his exceptional play.
