A tough tussle between old foes at Allen Park this morning kept all on-watchers thoroughly entertained when our U13A's came out on the right side of a 5 goal ding dong against Aughrim Rangers. Rovers found themselves one down mid way through the first half after a lovely long looping effort from the Rangers front man. Rovers equalized in the 21st minute when Captain Finn Murphy took full advantage of his freedom at the far post to tap home. Three minutes later Rovers took the lead when Kevin Yan intercepted a goal kick and duly slotted home to put Rovers 2-1 up at the break. Rangers had the perfect start to the second half and and equalized in the first couple of minutes. Both teams really went at it then with both coming close only to be deprived of the fine performances of goal keeper Ben Morrissey and his opposite number. In the 53rd minute Mikie O'Neill found AJ Long free in the six yard box to give Rovers the lead and all three points. A super game of football and we look forward to locking horns again after the mid-season break.
