The under 9 green team enjoyed a great day of football on Sunday 9th June  in Cork. Having left Wicklow bright and early on Sunday morning the lads first travelled to Crosshaven to take on Crosshaven AFC, which proved to be an excellent warm up game before making the short trip on to Carrigaline for the Carrigaline U9 Summer Tournament. In this 16 team tournament, the lads came up against some very well known teams such as Rockmount, Avondale and Ringhmahon Rangers. The lads showed an excellent attitude and represented the club impeccably from start to finish. The lads advanced from the group stages to face Lakewood in the quarter finals winning impressively, before winning the semi-final 1-0 and advancing to the final after a tight affair. In the final, the lads met Ringmahon Rangers, and took an early 2-0 lead. The Cork team weren’t willing to lie down to the visitors and quickly pegged it back to 2-2. A nervous ending to the game resulted in Rovers winning the game in spectacular fashion, with Tom Keating unleashing a cracking half volley to bring the trophy back to Wicklow.
