Our U13B's welcomed Avonmore to Whitegates this morning. This proved to be a very entertaining game with Rovers hitting the front after great play down the left from Alex Philippon, who then squared the ball for Eoghan Quinn to neatly finish. Philippon was himself on the score sheet when Seb Gould played him in and he finished well for 2-0 on 16 minutes. But the goal of the game came just before the break, with some great interplay down the left, the ball was worked across to Rovers midfielder, Chris Delahunt who hit a rasping shot from outside 20 yards that whistled into the top corner. 3-0 at half time. Avonmore started very well in the second half and got a good goal back on 32 minutes when a corner arrived at the back post and was finished well for 3-1 and game back on. Rovers however held their nerve and scored a fine goal when Delahunt chipped over the Avonmore defence for Philippon to run thorough and finish well for his second of the day. Man of the Match, Philippon then turned provider again for Quinn who finished well for 5-1. And that's how it finished. Thank you to Avonmore for a great game.
