The under 12A’s were up against the current league leaders in Arklow United for their second encounter, this time at home. A depleted Rovers side knew they were in for a tough game, but prepared well and set up to draw United into a battle, which didn’t dissapoint. Rovers started strongest, with Jamie Noctor striking inches wide and shortly followed by another strike which hit the crossbar. An early goal would have changed the trajectory of the game as Rovers took the game to United and piled on the pressure. Midway through the first half Rovers were stopped in their tracks as Arklow went ahead with a screamer from 30 yards out.. Arklow’s players began to find the gaps in the Rovers defence and showing their class, capitalised on only a handful of opportinities for the visitors. Caden O’Brien had another excellent game between the sticks and was instrumental to the game management. Rovers fronted up really well and left nothing on the pitch. Excellent performances from Will McConnell and Ryan Newsome who put in a shift out of position at centre half. Rovers now need to regroup and finish the season strong💪🏻🟢⚪️🟢
