The U13C team made the trip to Carnew yesterday evening, missing several players. Despite this, Rovers put in a strong performance in the first half but somehow found themselves 1-0 down at half time. A combination of good goalkeeping and defending kept Rovers from scoring in the opening period.
In the second half, Rovers pressed for the equaliser from kick off, but the Carnew keeper made a number of good saves. Against the run of play, Carnew scored a second goal following a missed clearance. Credit to Rovers, they went straight from the kick off and scored through a fine Ryan Newsome finish. Carnew then scored a third, with Rovers pushing for the equaliser. Several more Rovers chances were squandered and while they searched for a goal to get back into the game, Carnew added a fourth which effectively finished the game. Carnew added two more goals in the closing stages, with Rovers looking for a consolation. A harsh result but a game they should learn from. Best performers on the night were Luke Mulhall, Jamie Noctor and Jamie McGowan. Thanks to Carnew for the game.
