The under 15A’s took on Rathnew in the semi final of the Premier cup today. The lads progressed to the final after a 6-1 win. The first half was hard for Rovers as Rathnew took the game to them. Rathnew went in front with a coolly converted penalty. Rovers were no where near their best but they managed to nab an equaliser at end of the first half with Cathal Byrne firing home after a scramble in the Rathnew area. The second half was a different story, Rovers were more focused and once they got the second goal they played much better. The goal was a terrific shot by Sean O'Brien from right outside the box, Nathan Gough then made it 3-1 with a superb solo run from the right wing and another neat finish. The fourth goal was another superb play by Sean O'Brien right from a free kick. Rovers then added two more with James Cummins volleying in from a lovely cross by Abdul Alhamad. Then James Cummins converted a great team counter attack to complete the scoring. Big thanks to Rathnew for a good game.
