The under 11 green team were in Jimmy Hackett Cup action today when they travelled to Travers Insurance Park Arklow to take on a very solid Arklow Town B team. Rovers started the game on the front foot, applying all the pressure with some slick passing moves, but found the Town defence a hard nut to crack. Rovers got their reward midway through the half when Larry Brophy pounced on a Mark Yukhymenko cross to give Rovers the lead. More chances followed with Jaime O Malley and Tom O Brien both shaving the posts. The second half was much the same with Rovers looking for that second goal but also maintaining a solid defensive three so as to not get caught on the break. Both teams played a fantastic game of football, but it was Rovers that booked their place in the Quarter Finals. A great achievement for this team playing in their first competitive cup. Huge thanks to Arklow Town for a thrilling game played in great spirits. ⚽⚽
