Our U12C team were very unlucky to go down 2 - 1 to Arklow United today. With the sun out, it was a lovely day down on Whitegates, and it didn't take long for us to get off the mark. A lovely run and finish into the top corner by Billy Nolan after only three minutes in put Rovers in front. With our defence performing well, we kept creating chances and were unlucky not to score another few, forcing the Arklow keeper into some good saves. Unfortunately twenty minutes into the first half we let Arklow in, and found ourselves level with their first effort on target. The second half started off as a tight affair, our keeper Mithul Saravana making two fine saves and Billy Nolan, Tomas Cunha and Greg Rourke going close for Rovers. Midway through the second half it was Arklow who took the lead with a goal that would go on to be the winner. However, heads didn't drop for Rovers and we pushed and pushed for a deserving equaliser, but it wasn't to be on the day. It's always a close contest with Arklow and a good competitive game, and today was no exception. Both teams put on a great display in very warm conditions. Thanks to Arklow once again, we look forward to our next game 👍⚽️
