Our WDFL C team took on Carnew at Whitegates this afternoon after a couple of weeks without a game of football. Rovers were looking to build on their three points last time out and get off the bottom of the table.
Rovers dominated the first 25 minutes of the game and got their reward when Alex Earls capitalised on an error from the Carnew goalkeeper to make it 1-0. Carnew got more into the game for the rest of the half, but Rovers took to the break with the lead and were defending brilliantly. The second half continued in the same fashion with both sides nullifying the other, but with 20 minutes to play, Carnew were awarded a penalty, which they put into the bottom right corner to make it 1-1. Rovers had their chances to win the game, but in the end the game finished as a draw. A good effort from the lads, which sees them take four points from their last two outings.
