Our under 15B team were away to Arklow United B this afternoon. The two teams were evenly matched throughout. Rovers started off the best with a few great chances. One of these chances saw Sean O'Keefe have the ball in the net, but the referee gave a free for hand ball. The lads kept going but with no luck. After 20 minutes, Arklow got a lucky goal, but Rovers still kept going creating more chances with Cian Lynch testing the keeper on a few occasions but didn't get the rub of the green. Rovers went in at half time one down, but it could have been the other way round with the chances Rovers had created. Straight after the break, Rovers started to test the Arklow United keeper again with Sean and Cian going close. Rovers were playing some good football and had Arklow on the back foot for the best part of the game. Jack Barry popped up with a great shot only to see it hit the post. Arklow broke away with a long kick out and won a free kick just outside the Rovers area, it proved to be a well struck free kick just beating Fionn Lang into the far corner. To be fair to Rovers, they kept going and they got a goal back through Cian Lynch. With about five minutes remaining, Rovers kept pushing but couldn’t snatch an equaliser with the game ending 2-1 to Arklow. It proved to be a very enjoyable game to watch. The best players on the day were Max Hennessy, James Gurrie, and Kian Copeland, but to be fair, the whole team played very well on the day.
