The U12A’s came up against a very good Arklow United side in Credit Union Park this afternoon. Rovers conceded early in the first half, after which the lads found it difficult to get a foothold in the game. United showed their class in the second half, with a number of academy based players who began to pile the pressure on Rovers. Rovers fought like warriors for most of the second half, but with 15 minutes left, a second Arklow goal completed the job. United scored two addional goals within three minutes as Rovers heads began to drop. Rovers will take a huge amount from the game, with some notable performances from Will McConnell and Hunter Hennessy, again showing tremendous courage under pressure. We anticipate an epic battle against Arklow in the return leg, and an opportunity to show what this team can really do. 🟢⚪️🟢
