Our U11's made the long journey to Tormey Villas to face AC Celtic U12’s in round 3 of the National Cup. It was a tough contest with very little between the two teams for most of the match. The first half finished level, with both teams competing for everything leaving very little on the pitch. Rovers started to go through the gears in the second half and appeared to be winning the fitness battle, pinning a tired AC Celtic in their box for much of the second half. A Jaime McGowan curler from just inside the box almost broke the deadlock, followed by a shot from Jocob Birrell just missing the target at the back post. A lapse in concentration from a corned turned the game in AC Celtic's favour with 10 minutes to go, to put them 1-0 up. The high press to equalise left Rovers exposed at the back, with a ball played over the top to put Celtic through for their second with 2 minutes left. Rovers were incredible, with each and every player fighting for each other. They showed they have the skillset to compete against anyone in any league, which is hugely encouraging going into next season. As always, they were magnanimous in defeat and congratulated Cetic on their win and wished them the best of luck in the next round. The U11 team can be extremely proud of their journey this season.
