Our U12A's came up against a very talented St.Francis side today in the 3rd Round of the National Cup. The Athlone outfit displayed why they've won every match in their campaign this season. The game was nip and tuck though for the first 15 minutes until St.Francis opened the scoring after a fine move down the left wing. They scored again minutes later and produced a sucker blow with a finely executed free kick drill in the last minute of the first half. Rovers kept the heads up but just couldn't break down the St.Francis rear guard in the second half. St.Francis added two more goals before the final whistle to condemn our boys to just their second defeat of the season. Rovers can hold their heads high as they kept going to the final whistle but can have no complaints about the result. The very best of luck to St.Francis in the next round and it's the Shield final up next weekend for Rovers.
