Our WDFL C team played Avonmore in Tullylusk today. Avonmore had won all 3 games this season only conceding two goals. Rovers took a brilliant early lead after a great passage of play which ended in Gary O Connor slotting the ball into the bottom corner. Rovers pushed on and scored again twenty minutes into the first half with another great goal scored by Gary O Connor.

Avonmore came back into the game and made it 2-1 soon after followed by a great goal from 25 yards into the top corner to make it 2-2 at halftime. Avonmore started the second half quick by scoring an early goal in the second half to make it 3-2. Rovers could have folded at this point but Cormac Marnane came through the middle with a nice finish into the bottom corner to make it 3-3. Avonmore scored soon after to make it 4-3 but again the lads fought back and Alex Earls buried one into the bottom corner to make it 4-4. With ten minutes to play Avonmore went ahead again with a header from a corner to make it 5-4 and they held on until the end of the game to win.

An unfortunate result for the lads but a great effort. They've seen huge improvements since the start of the season and the wins will start to come soon.
