The senior ladies had their first home game of the season this morning at Whitegates. It didn't start off as Rovers would have wanted as they went one nil down after ten minutes. The team showed great spirit and within five minutes it was 1-1, with Niamh O'Brien getting a well placed effort past the keeper. Rovers kept pushing and put together some good passing moves, the ladies got the second of game and soon after it was 3-1 to Rovers and in command of the game. Both goals coming from Molly Sweeney. Just before the break then Molly Sweeney completed her hat-trick to make it 4-1. Going into the second half Rovers could of took the foot of the gas with a comfortable three goal lead but they kept on pressing forward to set a marker down for the season. Aofie Caffrey made it 5-1 ten minutes into the second half. Niamh got her second of the game, after continuously pressing the Camolin defence. Then Sophie in the middle of park got her rewards for covering every bit of grass on the pitch to make it 7-1. A clever free kick from Anne Muprhy from the Rovers half of the pitch into Louise Johnson who finished with a volley making it 8-1. Most people at this stage would sit back & relax for the last ten minutes of the game but not Niamh, she kept pressing and was rewarded with her hat-trick before adding her fourth of the game, to make it 10- 1. As a whole the team put it a great effort from Sophie Lacey in goal and the back 4 of Natasha, Louise, Anne and Laragh continually talking with each other ensuring there was enough cover. The midfield of Lucy, Sophie, Sinead and Aoife passing movement and through ball passing to create the chances for Molly and Naimh to finish. The subs of Katie, Molly Hayes, Eve & Elaine all came on to do the job that was required.
