A really tough battle for our under 11 green team this morning, between two evenly matched teams. Wicklow Rovers were held to a nil all draw on their last outing against Rathnew three weeks ago, but were hoping a home tie might just make the difference between the two sides. Both sides again matched each other both physically and technically in a tough match at St Pats. Rathnew were first to put a score on the board after fifteen minutes, only to be caught out from a long ball just three minutes later for Rovers to equalise. The second half was a battle of wills and fitness, but neither side could break the other down in the end. It finished 1-1 in a great physical and well spirited match. Excellent support again from the sidelines. Wicklow Rovers roll on to the Jimmy Hackett shield final next week against Coolboy in Arklow Town, which promises to be an epic encounter.
