Our under 12B's were up and at it early this morning at Whitegates with a 9.30 ko on a glorious morning for football. Rovers were straight out of the blocks when Eoghan Quinn beat three players in the Enniskerry box and squared a great ball for striker Daniel Morrisey to tap into an open net in the second minute. That lead didn't last long, with Enniskerry pouncing on a defensive mistake to level it on four minutes. Rovers were well on top but could not convert their chances. Quinn made another great run into the Enniskerry box on the 29th minute and won a deserved penalty but could not convert with the Enniskerry keeper making a fine save down to his right. 1-1 at the break. Rovers continued their fine form in the second half but conceded their own penalty on the 54th minute. Rovers keeper Matthew Gough was not to be beaten again, saving to his right with the save of the game. Rovers made some offensive changes for the last five minutes and got their reward when Alex Philippon broke down the left and finished high into the Enniskerry net to make it 2-1 to Rovers. Thats how it finished for a great home win. There were notable performances from captain Charlie Lawlor, keeper Matthew Gough and man of the match Eoghan Quinn. Well done to the club on the pitch, which was in great condition, and to Enniskerry for a great competitive game.
