Our under 12A's came out on top of a energy sapping match in Back Alley today versus a very tough Carnew side. Having had the majority of the possession in the first half, our boys in green came into half time two goals down due to the clinical finishing of the Carnew front men after two excellent counter attacks. The Carnew keeper also saved excellently from Daniel Clarke in the last minute of the half to maintain their cushion. Eoghan Daye kick started the Rovers revival in the second half when he beautifully slotted his attempt into the far right hand side of the goal. Carnew then hit the post and were within inches of restoring their two goal lead. Five minutes later Hank Murnane cooly finished after pinball in the opposition's box to level things up. A Kevin Yan rasper then rattled the post to deny Rovers the lead. An unfortunate raise of the arm by a Carnew defender then gave Murnane an opportunity for Rovers to take lead from the spot and he duly put the ball in the back of the net. With five minutes remaining Yan riffled in a free kick from outside the box to secure all three points for the away side. 4-2 the final score of this cracking game of football that had everything.
