The U12A team travelled to Vartry Park this morning to take on Roundwood. The lads were hopeful of finally breaking their mid season slump. Unfortunately it was not to be, and again the game came down to fine margins with the green and whites unable to capitalise on strong build up play. Rovers started strongest again, but allowed Roundwood to get a foothold in the game midway during the first half. The second half started 1-0 to the home team, but a lapse in concentration outside the Rovers box gifted Roundwood their second. Rovers pulled one back with Jamie Noctor turning on a ball from midfield and hammering the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-1. Rovers were then chasing the game, and played a high press to try get level, but were finiding it difficult to break a five man Roundwood defence. Roundwood hit the net for a third and final time from a corner with some sloppy Rovers defending, unable to close down in front of goal. Kai Hughes gave Rovers some hope, hitting the net with seven minutes left, but despite a strong finish, Rovers could not equalise. Roundwood 3-2 winners in the end. An incredible performance from Caden OβBrien in goal again today. Other notable performances were from Jabob Birrell at left back and Hunter Hennessey at right back. Well done Alfie Kajani who came on for his first game back after a long time out with a broken ankle. Welcome back Alfieππ»ππ»ππ»Rovers go to Ashford next Saturday, hopefully the hex will be lifted!!!!ππ»ππ» π’βͺοΈπ’
